Luscious Lips (The Natural Way)

Luscious Lips (The Natural Way)

Winter weather often means dry lips, so it’s that time of year when our lips need a little extra TLC. I’ve tried to slowly replace my conventional cosmetics with healthier versions (it feels good to toss the toxic stuff!), and lip care has been no exception. Lip products, in fact, are particularly important because they not only absorb into the skin like other cosmetics, but can also be easily ingested.

These are a few of my favorite natural lip care products right now:

Luscious Lips (The Natural Way)

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip Creamstick

I’ve fallen madly in love with this lip pencil, which falls somewhere in between a lipliner and a lipstick. It is pretty much exactly what it claims to be: a creamy lip color that glides on smoothly and leaves my lips extra moisturized. I’m also madly in love with the ingredients, as all 100% Pure products are free from lead, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, chemical preservatives, artificial colors, parabens, and other toxins. Instead of synthetic colors, their lip colors come from all-natural fruit and vegetable pigments, which are packed with vitamins and antioxidants. All these healthy indulgences result in lip color which feels luxurious and super moisturizing.

Two of my favorite colors are pictured (above): Perfect Naked Berry and Perfect Naked Pink.

Ingredients*: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Coconut Stearic Acid, Vitamin E (Tocopherol), Rosehip Oil, May contain all or some of the following fruit pigments : Cherry, Cocoa, Strawberry, Plum, Blueberry, Blackberry, Peach, Apricot, Tomato, Pomegranate, Acai, Raspberry, Chokeberry and Cranberry, Rice Starch Powder.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip Gloss

Another favorite from 100% Pure, this lip gloss is also filled with all-natural ingredients, glides on smoothly, and leaves a nice texture (not sticky like some other brands). Two of my favorite colors are pictured above: Mauvely and Naked.

Ingredients*: Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), contains all or some of the following fruit pigments: Pomegranate, Wine, Cherry, Cranberry, Blackberry, Raspberry, Peach, Cocoa Bean and Plum, Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Grapeseed Oil, Honey, Shea Butter, Honey Beeswax, Natural Fruit Flavor, Chili Pepper.

100% Pure states that it uses cruelty-free honey (beeswax) and gluten-free vitamin E in their products (sourced from rice bran).

Ecco Bella Good For You Gloss

This is another one of my favorite natural lip gloss options, free of parabens, water, alcohol, talc, FD & C dyes, and animal products (with the exception of carmine which is used their pink colors). It comes in four colors (pictured from top to bottom): Peace, Power, Pleasure, and Passion.

Ingredients*: castor oil, organic palmfruit stearin, shea butter, candelilla wax, aloe vera, vanilla flavor, complex Vitamin E. May contain: Titanium dioxide, iron oxide, manganese violet and carmine. (Power and Peace do not contain carmine and are therefore vegan).

Ecco Bella’s mission is to provide products from sustainable, cruelty-free (and mostly vegan), ethically farmed, often organic sources.

Sweetsation Therapy Choco Smooch Organic Baby Lip & Face Balm, with Argan, Calendula & Sea Buckthorn

I’ve shared my love for Sweetsation Therapy products before, and this organic lip balm still remains my absolute favorite. It’s perfectly moisturizing with only healthy and (mostly) certified organic ingredients, and like all other Sweetsation Therapy products, free of parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, sulfates, formaldehyde, mineral oil, PABA, paraffin, DEA, and GMOs. This lip balm is marketed for babies’ delicate skin, but it’s wonderful nourishment for adult lips too. (P.S. It smells delicious enough to eat, but please don’t!)

Ingredients*: Organic Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Butter), Organic Beeswax, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil), Organic High Oleic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower Oil), Organic Persea Gratissima (Avocado Oil), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Vanilla Absolute, Mel (Honey), Theobroma Cacao (Cacao Seed Oil), Organic Argan Oil, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) fruit extract, Organic Calendula Officinalis (Calendula), Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn Oil), Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) fruit extract, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed (Macadamia Nut Oil), Organic Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry), Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry Seed Oil), Punica Granatum Linn (Pomegranate Oil).
